Each year, NIU STEAM relies on the support of hundreds of volunteers who give their time and expertise to support this free one day event. The reasons our volunteers give are as varied as the volunteers themselves, but for many, what they get back from their experience outweighs the time they invest.

STEM Fest volunteers help guests explore and discover all things science, technology, engineering and math in fun and engaging ways. They guide and direct guests through hands on experiences that get kids moving and interacting with STEM content. As one of the largest free family events in northern Illinois, we rely on volunteers to help us educate the community about the many ways STEM impacts our lives, including STEM career options, resources and more.
