There are so many ways to get involved in NIU STEAM! Sure, we hope you visit STEM Fest or a STEAM Café, but you can help us while you learn even more about science, technology, engineering, arts and math when you volunteer at an event or join our team of student workers.
Volunteer Positions
STEM Fest (Fall)
Our largest on-campus event requires hundreds of volunteers to make the day a success. Wield a hammer or sling some slime. Come in costume, or not, and help more than 4,000 visitors learn to love science.
You don’t have to be a science major – there are plenty of jobs to go around:
- Construction
- Set up
- Tear down
- Staffing the event

Other Opportunities Throughout the Year
- Help with demonstration programs.
- Construct new demos and displays.
- Help with after-school STEAM clubs.
- Mentor middle or high school students.
- Volunteer your STEM student organization to participate in Family STEM/STEAM Nights at schools.
Paid Positions
