Workshop Description:

Are you interested in video games, video game graphics or computer programming? Have you ever wanted to develop your own video game? Learn the basics of how to create your own game, and build terrains your player can move through using professional software by Unity.

Instruction will include a combination of live online interactions with NIU faculty and staff, along with recorded videos and downloadable step-by-step instruction.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn Unity design software.
  • Design terrains for your video game.
  • Move through Unity with first-person controllers.
  • Create a game narrative with lighting and assets.
  • Learn the essentials of starting your first video game.
This is an online workshop delivered by Northern Illinois University, Digital Convergence Lab. To access this workshop you will need a stable internet connection and a computer that meets the computer hardware and software requirements. Students will receive a login to an online webinar tool and the learning management system before the start of the workshop.
